Hello again folks, Had some time to get back to my cub restoration and found this, just want to see how bad an issue this is do I replace it or is it ok??? Once again thank you in advance for any input you might have. I will be posting some pics of my progress soon.

I have seen damage like that to the slots in the governor drive on one occasion and it was in a photo from an old post by Shot(MI). Refer to the below link and the 3rd paragraph on page 2 of that post. Your wear pattern looks a little more pronounced than his. Not sure what could cause this much wear, unless the magneto was bound up at some point when trying to start tractor. Apparently it did not cause a problem with his tractor and in fact it wasn't even mentioned in his post. My only concern would be that the governor is not damaged and functions properly. I look forward to what others think could cause this.

I guess it is also possible that damage to the governor drive slots could be from someone trying to start the tractor with the magneto lugs not properly inserted into the drive slots.
