No spark 1970 cub
I inherited a 1970 cub. No battery, no key, hot wired to bypass generator and regulator. I am attempting to rewire and install new regulator, new coil and ignition coil resister, clean the generator and install new ignition switch. New parts and wiring are installed according to diagram. But I am not getting any spark to the spark plugs. I have power to the coil. How hot is the ignition coil resister supposed to get? It is hot enough to melt plastic.

Re: No spark 1970 cub
a factory 1970 cub does not have a resistor, if you have 12 volts to the coil then check for voltage at the points, point gap .020 make sure the plate is clean for the points to ground, should have a internal resistor coil
