super A will go lots deeper, --- might go 14 to 18" by making more than 1 pass.
I subsoil every fall, cept last year when I was down the gardens never got plowed. Had to just till this spring and thats part of my weed problem!
The main thing I rip 36" deep for is so water dont stand on top more than a half hour. so far it has worked. In a downpour it ponds up and after rain stops, a few mins. later waters gone.

still have a hard crust but tillers take care of that.

I'm lucky, here the hardpan is about 2' down and when digging corner posts anything deeper than 3' and the hole fills with water. Even in driest months of June-Aug.
(Sorry took so long to respond, had family problems, dad had 2nd heart attack and needed triple bypass. He's doing better now)

I pick my 1950 Cub up Wednesday and need to try this for the rocky soil here in mid Missouri, thanks for the tip.

My methods wont work for everybody and I am just sayin what I do here! Granted that IF I need to bring the D-10,---that could be arranged too !!! LOL!
Everybody has to use the methods that work in their area!
