I'm with coppersmythe.. Get her running, and see what condition everything else looks like, and if the rest checks out, just put her on light duty.

Buying one with a known crack is one thing, but since you are already in, to it, why not weld it, brace it or what ever.
Maybe look for a used engine, or a used block for a correct repair, later on down the road.

Carburetor was leaking gas out air intake when not running so I opened it to check float. Found this needle valve seat, never seen one like this in an IH carburetor. Apologize for the somewhat blurry pictures.

That is the style of cage that comes with a viton tipped needle in most aftermarket kits. Prone to stick and/or leak.

This is the only needle and seat that I will use in a rebuild. Unfortunately, it's very expensive.
