I can’t seem to find any LED headlights that will work on my 1957 Farmall Cub, which is still 6v positive ground. However, there seem to be a lot of 6v headlights on the market that will work on negative ground. Is it worth making the switch to negative ground to try? Has anyone out there already tried this successfully?
My 6v positive ground is all working great- I’m just going to end up mowing late a lot this summer and the regular filament style headlights are dim and draw a ton of power.

Could changing to 6v negative ground allow me to use LED headlights?

Is it possible to swap a pair of wires at the headlight itself? That would be the easy fix.

Below is a discussion on the same topic, appears some LED ligjts will work either positive or negative ground. Good Luck.

If you have two wire bulbs like the pancake or round back you may be able to just switch the wires at the bulb. It will not work for the teardrop that ground through the mounting/body of the tractor.
6 v positive ground will give you a great deal more options for LED lights. Steiner sells the par36 sealed beam in 6v as do some others. When looking for the par 36 bulbs ( sealed beam) you have to make sure they are an auto or tractor light not a repackaged landscape or house light which will not hold up as long
I have only found one 1156/ba15s socket LED bulb for the teardrops that will +/- neg ground, at 6 or 12v and gives more light but that was on eBay and I do not see it listed anymore.

When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!

Take a look at the lights you're thinking of buying. What you're looking for are lights with two wires. Those presumably do not "ground" through the case and can be used on either type of ground. Simply hook positive to positive, negative to negative.
Lights that have only one wire will need to have the tractor's ground changed to match. This is not a big deal. First remove the battery connections. Second swap the wires at the posts on the ammeter. Third reconnect the battery negative to ground. Fourth repolarize the generator. I won't go into repolarizing the generator as it is discussed so often here.
