oil pressure gauge

Postby pett3227b » Tue Mar 15, 2022 2:32 pm

I have an original oil pressure gauge that was working fine before my engine rebuild. I noticed however when I removed it from the block that it has a good amount of oil in it. Is this normal? should it be replaced? probably about two thimbles oil in it.

There shouldn't be any oil visible in the face behind the glass but a little from the orfice is normal.

No, it’s not normal. It means your gauge has an internal leak, it should be replaced.
