Fixing the mutt...

Postby cobra2411 » Sun Feb 06, 2022 11:09 pm

Edit: originally I called this "More loader problems" but I think it makes more sense to be a bit of a build thread... My tractor is a 71 standard with a 65 engine and a lowboy loader... I think it qualifies as a mutt.

I lean towards original, but I favor function, so this is going to be a working tractor that's hopefully in the spirit of an older generation that made due with what they had....

Now back to the original post...

So I have a lowboy loader on a standard. That puts the back lower which makes the towers lower which makes the brace over the tank not fit...

So... I made a new one with a bend...

I also cleaned up the valve area. There's a mystery plate that was bolted to the valve on one side and threw the valve and valve bracket, so it moved around. Originally it had the separate valves with a gusset between them. Some box tube fixed that mess.

I also flipped the valve handles to point back vs up. No pictures yet...

I also picked up some new (lightly used) tires...

Next I have to fix all the wallowed out holes and make sure all the bolts are tight.
