Cub Rims
Ok, I am new to this and the Farmall/International family. I purchased a 1969 International Cub with a 5' mower in April and a 1945 Farmall A in November. Does anyone still make factory style rims or will I have to go with the aftermarket? I also thought about buying a blank rim and mounting the original blocks on the new blanks.

This is your best bet. Aftermarket rims have loops that use carriage bolts, as opposed to original rims that have square blocks that use square head bolts. I acquired two original rims that were rusted through. Before welding them together (to make a fire ring) I removed the mounting blocks and it did not take long for them to find a new home.

Edit: Don types faster than I do. His suggestion is valid for used original rims.

Re: Cub Rims
You didn't say whether you are looking for rims for the Cub or the A. They are not the same. The A rims are typically wider. The blocks/loops/lugs have a different offset and make a different diameter bolt circle.

Welcome aboard! Used rims in very good shape can also be purchased. Place an ad on The Vine to see what options are out there.

I actually need one rim for each tractor. Yes, I found out the hard way they are different.

Re: Cub Rims
the new replacement rims are good quality but use carriage bolts to mount them, I got good grade 8 carriage bolts from McMaster Carr, 1/2 x 3 "

Re: Cub Rims
So what you guys are saying is that before you throw out any rusted out rims the lugs should be cut off in case someone can use them?

Yes. It’s not an easy task, but worth the effort if they are in good condition.

What Stan said - check the site sponsors.
John Hargis at JP Tractors has lots of used nice rims for sale. After purchasing rear rims, hydraulic sets, rear light markers from him, I have found his prices and shipping very reasonable. Same day shipping usually, too.

Re: Cub Rims
Be sure that the replacement rims your get are the right width. Rims are measured from the inside of the place the tire bead seats.
