'66 hood decal placement
Could someone give me measurements for the hood decal position. Front edge of hood to front of decal, and bottom edge of hood to bottom of decal. I forgot to get those before I had the hood repainted. Thanks!!

Hi,
If you can't get measurements, here is a pic from TM Tractor of the position for the right side decal.
http://www.tmtractor.com/new/de/de41.htm
Below is the cover of the 1965 Cub operator's manual, it looks like the word Cub is almost centered above the voltage regulator, slightly to the rear, a little more than in TM Tractor's pic.

Maybe if you position the right decal like it shows, you could measure and put the left decal in the same position on the hood. Just an idea, it's your choice.

From what I have heard and from what people said of some of the other decals they were just slapped on there. Pretty close to the same spot but I don't think anyone was measuring or laying out grids to put the decal on. I would look at some of the stock factory pics and copy placement.

Bob, If I remember tomorrow I will check a couple of mine to see if they are all the same and get the exact measurement. Give me a call if you want to remind me.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

If you don’t mind, would you post what you find out about measurements or other info that was helpful to you for decal placement? Photos are always great as well. I have a ‘66 I would like to restore one of these days.

Bob, the closest I come to that is a 1967. It is 5/8" from the bottom and 10 1/4" from the front.

Thanks Bill, I'll go with those measurements.

Re: '66 hood decal placement
I checked my '66 LoBoy. The front edge of the hood is at an angle. Checking the left side: The decal is 11/16 from the bottom edge, Measuring from the front edge at the height of the bottom of the decal, it is 10 behind the edge, then the decal is 14-5/8 then 2-9/16 to the seam at the rear of the hood.
Then I looked at the right side. One end is 9/16 above the edge while the other is 7/8. So the average isn't far from the other decal placement. It is 9-9/16 from the front edge and 3 from the rear edge.

This is the radiator decal on an International 340 Utility that I recently purchased. Tractor was purchased new by my cousin in '58 and has never been repainted. When I repaint it, this decal will go back in the exact same spot just to annoy the correct police, and anyone with a mild case of OCD.

Re: '66 hood decal placement
Actually, that’s the correct way, to restore is to put it back to it’s original condition. If it came from the factory with a crooked decal, that is correct for that tractor. I’m sure a lot of the purest would disagree, though.
