steering system swap??

Postby brichter » Sun Aug 15, 2021 10:39 pm

So would it be possible or reasonably so, to swap the steering system on an older cub with a late 70's model? The steering on my loader cub is terrible and I have access to the entire front end of a long stripe. Thanks,

Billy Ray

Yep.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

The sheering shaft is about 3" longer on the cubs after 1964 1/2. It makes it a little harder to get in and out.
When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!

The late steering gears will give you a little more favorable steering ratio, especially nice with the loader. It’s a good swap, if you don’t mind the longer steering wheel shaft.

24 tooth gear later vs the 21 tooth gear early.

I have cut about2 or 3 shafts down I did not like that much on the after 1964 1/2 cubs.
