What size bolt for rockshaft?

Postby Clemsonfor » Wed Apr 14, 2021 7:20 am

My tractor has bolts that are too long in it right now. What is the correct size bolts that bolt the rockshaft attachment to the top of the transmission? The triangle piece with the three bolts right beside the seat on top of the transmission.

I need size, thread pitch and length. Thanks

1/2-13x 1-1/4. Thread pitch is 1.954.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Thanks. I looked in the pdf for it and it didn't list it. Maybe threat pitch was the wrong word. But you answered what I wanted there with 1/2 x13 1 1/4. Thank you.

Huh? Where did that number come from? Lol
Ok, I figured it out..... The 1.954 is in millimeters! :)

13 threads per inch would have a pitch of .0769"!

Clemsonfor,

Inch fasteners are sold by threads per inch (tpi), which for 1/2" is 13 for coarse threads!

Barnyard has the proper way of expressing the screw (or bolt) size, 1/2-13x 1 1/4"!

*Fyi, as a general rule, a screw is to be threaded in the tapped hole 1.5x the diameter of the screw.

Example; 1/2" x 1.5= 3/4".

So in theory, a 1/2" screw should have 3/4" of threads in the tapped hole!

Be careful of TOO LONG of screws in a blind tapped hole, I think that is how people pop the bosses off the rear axle housing where the drawbar mounts!

Have a great day! :)
