When my dad taught me on our Cub. The first ruleVIEWTOPIC was keep your left foot covering the clutch. If you do "catch" something, inertia forces you to depress the clutch. 

I was also taught not to push snow across the road. Get to the end, push it back and to the side.

Yes, there are still Cub 54 Blades out there for sale, there may even be some listed on the Vine currently.
A forum member in Kansas? has a number of them for sale.
There are even some N.O.S. (new old stock) units kicking around.

This is good teaching! Pushing the snow across the road leaves a dangerous (drift??? Pile???) on each side of the blade. Cars that pass have to deal with the furrow until you get it cleaned up.

This isn’t that far from you, it’s complete and a good price. You’ll find plows that look complete but if it’s missing something like the boomerang you can’t use it until you chase down that part. Then you have to pay up for it so the bargain just evaporated. Get a complete plow first shot.
Look at the photos on the TM site and take notes so when you go look at a plow you know what your getting. Know the difference between an F-Cub blade and a Lo-Boy blade. Get the one designed for what you have.
There’s also a lot of owner fabricated stuff out there and some of it works but the complete factory setup works best.

My plow with the extra snow foil hits the bottom of the engine when mounted as a grader blade. I have a second one without the snow foil for grading.
Is this normal or do I have it on wrong.

Snow foil? By that do you mean the optional moldboard extension that bolts on the top of the grader blade moldboard with 4 bolts?

If the extension is what your talking about, then when using the 54 blade in the belly position, you do NOT want the extension attached!

Yes snowplowing is done from the front position and the snow extension helps.
Grading can be done out front but is best done in the belly position. If you try snowplowing in the belly position you’ll find problems quick with a mound of snow in front of the blade you can’t back over.
