I now have 6 inbound packages and 1 outbound package stuck in Detroit. A local news report describes mail packed from wall to wall in a logjam.

I have had the same issues, letters take 13 days to go 40 miles. packages are marked undeliverable when they were never out for delivery. I am currently waiting on a simple envelope that has been taking 15 days to travel what I can drive in less than an hour.

better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it...( YES this includes CUBS! )

Ok ...
After watching tracking on my wife’s Christmas gift shipped from Tennessee on the 10th it arrived in Jersey City NJ on the 16th (50 miles away from me). Normally now In my state I’d get it the next day. Nope, Sat there for 8 days. Now on Christmas Eve, I get an update that it’s moving again.
Hey great maybe it’ll arrive today !
Nope again.
it’s been scanned into...
Ready for this?...
San Francisco California !

To close out my portion of this saga, I received the FIRST set of batteries today, that were shipped on December 2nd. Took two days to go from KC, MO to District Heights, MD. On December 7th, it was tagged as being "In Transit to Next Facility". Then off the radar until it arrived at my local PO today. The package was in good condition, so it's unlikely that it was on the floor of some tractor trailer or processing center all this time. The bottom line is, if you need something delivered in a timely fashion, don't go any where near the USPS.

My wife's Christmas to me arrived today. Shipped from NJ. on the 12th to York Pa. for two days, to Richmond, Va. for 8 days, to Charlottesville Va. for a day and finally to Afton Va. were I drove to pick it up. I don't know where it was for the rest of the days "it was missing". I was afraid they would send it back to Richmond. I don't live in Afton. Don't know why it was in Charlottesville they closed that processing center years ago. I have to believe it will get better. Here's looking to 2021!

Sent a payment to Oregon for something no purchased at an online auction site...not eBay. Sent the payment early December and just got an email that it was received yesterday. So it took 3 to 4 weeks for a letter to get from SC to Oregon!!!!!

Had a package coming from Fargo, ND. Left there on the 28th of December, arrived at the Providence, RI distribution center, 1 am today. Left there at 4 am, for the 8 mile trip to the Rehoboth post office. Never made it there, or here, today. And, I thought that things were improving, at the USPS!

I think it will take a couple weeks for them to get caught up. I've still got a couple items, that are a couple weeks overdue. Nothing I'm in rush for, just project material. With the virus, most people expected a heavy load on shippers, why didn't they?

Update on my ND package. It showed up on tracking, to be in a post office 20 miles east of us.

JMHO, not the first time the gov-ment failed to look ahead and anticipate problems. And not likely to be the last, unfortunately. :hattip:
