carb interchange

Postby Jeff Silvey » Thu Aug 06, 2020 6:56 am

I found out I have a cousin that has a few tractors. One was a cub. I reached out to them said cub looks nice. If you ever need any help just call.
They said that the cub has a carb from an A on it.
I'm wondering how this fits up to make the cub run. I haven't seen the cub. Does a lot of tractors interchange parts from other tractors.

Probably a Zenith for a Cub.

It probably has a Zenith, leading them to that conclusion. They are similar in appearance. If it really is from an A, it had to be adapted and it's not likely that the linkage would work as planned. But then again, I've ran them on two different size Briggs & Stratton carbs, so it's certainly possible.

Yes. At the New Holland dealership. Guy in front of me asked for a Case part. Clerk returned with a package labled with an IH part number.

Searching for a part will frequently provide a lengthy application list.

Carter is a common small engine carburetor and another possiblility for your Cousin's tractor.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Super A has a zenith that looks like a cub carb, but the linkage is different. (Opposite side)

Different mounting flange size between Cub and A, makes it unlikely an A carb is on a Cub. More likely as Bob said.

One of my cubs has a Zenith with oversize flange and has been re-drilled to fit cub---have no idea what it came off of originally. I could look at my SA and the A and see for sure---kinda dark and hot way back in the shed!
