farmall cub crank pulley install

Postby frogman » Sat May 30, 2020 11:08 am

Starting to rebuild a farmall cub engine so I have really been using the forums to get up to speed on these engines. There are many post regarding crank pulley removal but on the install how do you align tdc mark on pulley with pointer. I have not removed the pulley yet so the answer may be revealed when it comes off. Just trying to get in front of it. thanks

There is a woodruff key that aligns the pulley.

Hi,
Below are pics from TM Tractor of the crankshaft pulley.
The 1st pic shows the keyway for the crankshaft key.
The 2nd pic shows the surface where the oil seal runs, at the left side of the pic. If the surface is rusty, or rough, smooth it with fine sandpaper.
If it has a groove worn in it where the seal runs, it might need a wear sleeve put on it, to use with the new seal.
TM Tractor has a seal and wear sleeve they sell together. :)
