Idle tube

Postby Arnold » Tue Mar 03, 2020 6:02 pm

After snapping off my idle tube and removing the threaded part, thanks to the info on this forum, I attempted to install a new tube bought from Steiner, and it is too long, by 3/16 – 1/4”. I'll cut the end off and smooth it, it should work based on what I've read here.

I see in Donny M response above that the idle tube length is the same as the one I got from Steiner. My carburetor has no markings, I was told by Hoober many years ago it is a reproduction of original IH carb. Any one know which carburetor I have?

Thanks.

There are two versions of repro IH carbs for the Cub. One good, and one less than good. The good one has been around for about ten years or so. In both instances, the idle tube was shorter than the OEM IH idle tube. Trimming it to fit is OK.
