Sickle mower parts

Postby jrandleman13 » Sat Feb 08, 2020 3:47 pm

I just got a cub-22 mower today. It was essentially free so I figured that it would be good to see if I can get it to work. I have all but three parts. The pitman arm is rotten and I'm going to order a new one from TM. I am missing the stay rod and crank nut. Does anyone make a repro stay arm? I haven't found one online. I have some dimensions so if push came to shove I could make one. Also there is a broken piece on part me652 that is located right by the pitman ball. There looks like a hook or hole was broken on the casting. Anyone have a good pic of that part? There is nothing in the parts books I have found. As always...many thanks!

Board members tst (repo stay rods) and Bob McCarty (stay rod crank nut) are good folks to deal with. Send each a PM (personal message) and they can fix you up.

me652 is obsolete, it has appoint on the end that keeps the sickle blade from falling down while in the up position, I have welded that point back on and they work fine

Check with Duffield Equipment in Williamsport, MD for ME652.

A new pitman can easily be fabricated from a treated square deck spindle. If you have the old one for a pattern.

Thanks all. I'll get messages to people for the parts. The tip for me652 is long gone. I may try to weld up a point if I strike out with Duffield. I dont have anything in it. I got a plow today just for a depth lever assembly. My plow didnt have one...the gentleman surprised me with 2 levers a drawbar the complete plow and this mower.

Hi,
Below is the Cub 22 mower operator's manual, if you don't have it. It is for 3 different mowers for 3 different models of IH tractors. It has cutter bar maintenance info.
Some of the info is for all 3 mowers, and some is for 1 model of mower. It tells at the top of the pages when info is for 1 model of mower.

Below is a pic of a ME 652, with the point. The point keeps the pitman and knife bar from sliding down when the mower is up in the transport position.
It is called a Cap, Knife Head Rear, in the IH parts manual. :)
