The correct brass fitting for the fuel line is IH part # 222-503.....$2.50. Replace the fitting you have with this and the problem is solved. There is no need to pre-crimp this fitting. It will self seal when tightened.
A good IH dealer will have this fitting....I know that I stock them as they are a common part to fail.
