Re: Woods 59 Mower and Fast Hitch
Hi,
I don't know which mower you are trying to put on the Cub.
The 59 C2 won't work with a Fast Hitch.
If you have the 59 CF mower that was in the ad, you probably need the owner's manual for it.
There is an owner's manual for it at the top of the page, at Quick links. Then go to PDF Manuals.

Thanks Glen, after a bunch of online research and trial and error I managed to get the mower mounted. I'm going to test it out and then I'll send some pics later. Thanks for your help!

Re: Woods 59 Mower and Fast Hitch
The deck is installed and everything was going well so far, with one exception, confused about belt installation. Using photos I was able to install the belt and test it, but I'm concerned as it crosses itself before and after the left spindle and rubs. Does anyone have a picture of a proper installation of the 59 CF and it's belt?

Re: Woods 59 Mower and Fast Hitch
Hi,
The Woods owner's manual shows the proper belt routing.
I think the belt is installed wrong on the left pulley.
If there are twists in the belt, they should be the correct direction also.
After going where I wrote above, then go to [OEM Implement and Attachment Manuals and Brochures]
Then Woods manuals is the last choice on that page.
I can't post the link for the manual here, it won't work.
It looks like the belt guards are gone from around the 3 pullies on top of the mower. The owner's manual shows them.
I would be sure the mower bearings turn smoothly, nothing is loose, and grease the grease fittings on the mower before use.
Look under the mower, and see if the blades sharp, are installed the right direction, and the bolts are tight holding them on.
I think in your pic there is no hand hole cover under the clutch housing.
Below is a listing for it at TM Tractor. It helps keep out grass.

Below is a page from the 1965 Cub owner's manual showing clutch and the cover.
http://farmallcub.com/rudi_cub/www.clea ... age-52.jpg
I would lube the throwout bearing grease fitting, people on here have said they are sometimes forgotten.
They say on here to use cheap grease, so the oil in the grease absorbs into the throwout bearing graphite.
I wipe a thin layer of grease on the front of the bearing also, part way around is good enough, the fingers will spread it around.

Re: Woods 59 Mower and Fast Hitch
I don't have a picture of the belt installation, however, your belt is improperly installed. Refer to the manual Glen noted for the proper mounting diagram. As a bit of information:
All three grooves in the center pulley are to be used, you are using two.
The rubbing belt goes behind the center pulley to the right spindle.
No twists in the belt between the spindles, only to and from the center spindle to the idler pulleys.
No twists to or from the idler pulleys to the drive (PTO) pulley.
Hope this helps a bit. Sorry that I don't have a pic to help.
Bill
PS: Dale types faster than I do and has located the diagram that explains my narrative. Good luck.

Hi,
Dale, he has a Woods 59 CF mower for Cubs with a Fast Hitch. Not sure if the belt routing is the same as a 59 C2, that your link is for.

Figured except for the chain drive, the rest might be the same...not sure though.

Thank you Bill, and Dale as well. I've installed according to the manual and it seems to fit very well. Photo attached. The third pulley on the center spindle looks like it has never been used, so I questioned this method. It fits very well though.

Wow, thank you Glen! Somehow I had not seen that giant gaping 3-inch hole underneath the clutch housing. That's a part I will order immediately.
I greased the fittings and sharpened the blades this morning, everything moves very easily. The bolt is worn, but I'll replace it soon.

Re: Woods 59 Mower and Fast Hitch
Hi,
The Wood 59CF-1 manual is there, I was looking at it. I think the routing on top of the mower is the same as the 59C-2, but hard to see the pics on my computer, they are dark some.
Go to Quick links at the top of the page, then PDF Manuals, then go to [OEM Implement and Attachment Manuals and Brochures], then Woods is the last one in the list, then the manual is on the Woods page.
There is a manual for a Woods 59CF-1
The belt routing in your last pic looks better, if all 3 grooves in the center pulley look the same width and the belt fits good in them, then it is probably good. Someone could have put the belt on wrong since the mower was new, if 1 groove was never used before.

Cannot figure out how to mount the bracket to the final drive on the right hand side of the tractor, there is already something in the way, the adjustment for the drawbar. How is this reconciled?
Could you post a pic of the right final with the mower bracket installed? It might help others in the future.
Are you happy with the mower performance?

Sorry, I missed the follow-ups on this one. Here is my 59CF-1 belt routing. Looks like they match!

Re: Woods 59 Mower and Fast Hitch
Hi,
I noticed in the listing for the hand hole cover at TM Tractor that I posted above, it looks like there is no lock washer under the wing nut. It might help to keep from losing the cover to put a lock washer on under the wing nut.
Don't tighten the wing nut hard, it can bend the metal bar.
