Not ashamed to say Im a Little intimidated on the doing the shims on the Cub transmission . From beginning to end what is the proper procedure on shimming up the rear and Counter shaft . New bearings and seals added . :roll:

Below is the Cub service manual, it has lots of info. The transmission is in section 6, I would read it and see if it explains what you need to know. :)

When I redid our ‘47 trans, when I got it close I used a piece of paper to set the mesh, I’ve seen people use grease as well. You may have to take it apart 10 times or you may get lucky and only have to do it a time or two. Good luck with it.

Keep track of where the shims come from as you disassembly and put them back the same place on assembly. That should get you fairly close to start and cut down on the iterations.
