Found a new one for the family
At the bash this past spring Paula having seen all Barnyard’s toys turned to me and said “you know, if you want to fill our yard with tractors I’m ok with that”!
Well, I’ve always looking through the ads to see what pops up and now something did.
There’s a little Cub, complete, painted though buried under dust, new rubber apparently needing nothing and priced right. Actually better than right so I’ll be making a road trip in the Morning cash in hand, trailer in tow.
Wish me luck!
Mike

Sounds good, Mike. If you buy it, you'll become a member of the MCC (multiple Cub club).

Re: Found a new one for the family
Ok this is it
Newish upholstered pan seat, converted to 12v (which I prefer), Norm Quay battery box, new tires, drawbar, the gas was like some kind of candy syrup the worst I've ever seen and it smelled sickly sweet and that smell carried throughout the area. When I smelled that gas I assumed there was no chance it'd run but it did and there were no abnormal sounds.
How these things can run on pancake syrup is beyond me.
The serial number is 152XXX so its a '52.
So, it needs fresh gas, a muffler, new battery and a good cleaning. Aside from that everything is there, nothing to hunt down.
One problem though, the touch control lever seems frozen or stuck. I'm guessing thats not a hopeless issue.
Still feeling like I made out good.
I paid him all of what he was asking and though I can haggle with the best I would have felt bad if I did on this one.
I got it for the price of a set of tires! I kinda feel guilty about that
More pics to come
Mike
PS The seller has Cub implements to sell also which I said I'd post for him so check the vine for pics.
PSS- Paula met me with a flashlight to look it over when I rolled in with it. She's happy with it.

Re: Found a new one for the family
Sort of off topic, but how well does the Jeep Commando pull the Cub? V-8 or V-6, since I think the Commando could be had with either? I see the tractor has no weights, so it's 350 lbs lighter without them.

Way to go, Mike!
Sounds like you made out well. I see it has a mower pulley on the back PTO. Did the mower deck come with it?
Merry Christmas!!

It also has an extension on the right side off the pump arm to lift a deck. Didn’t come with a mower though. I have an IH 59” that came with my Lo-Boy. I tried that on the Lo-Boy this year and it was too much for the old girl, over heated the engine trying to cut with it.
Ended up buying an Exmark which is ok as the Cubs have other chores to do.
I’ll eventually hunt down a front plow setup for it with weights for snow removal duty.
Mike
Merry Christmas to you too !

Sounds like somebody is going to need a couple of parts for the mower they buy.

It’s a 2007 Commander limited 4.7 V8 (didn’t want the Hemi) with a tow package.
The 4.7 brings the tow rating up to 6,500lbs from the V6’s 3,500lb rating.
We tow a 21’ “Cub” aerolite camper with it and a 20’ Grady White (4000lbs approx w/trailer) so the Cub is no problem.
The trailer makes a difference in the tow.
Our first landscape trailer was a 5x8 with a single tongue and smaller tires on 12” rims.
It wandered behind the vehicle on the road.
This one is a 6x10 with an A frame tongue, 3,600lb rating and full sized tires on 15” rims.
It sits like a rock on the road and rides dead straight behind the tow vehicle. Full wood decking is a must as it’s safer to walk on and adds weight to the trailer making it tow better.
This trailer is great for the Cub even with the weights and plow attached but I may still go bigger. Towing my A’s push things a bit and when I brought them home I strip what weight I can and put it in the bed of my pickup. You don’t want to push your limits, it can get dicey.
You also want your tow vehicle to have done weight to hold the road. A little vehicle with a 3,500 lb rating might tow a Cub ok but the trailer might push you on a wet road when stopping. (Been there, no fun)

Didn’t see it there but all they really need was the pulley for the pto.
Bet that’s easier to find than plow or fast hitch parts
