Poor man's wannabe 3 pt hitch adapter
Here's the hitch I came up with to mount my single row seeder. The receiver slot stays parallel all the way up or down. It's a Cat 1 hitch. I used 1500lb cast tiedown rings for the bottom. For the top I bushed the holes in the A-frame and used a 1/2" pin that fit the existing hole in the rockshaft. The drawbar works great as the bottom link, just remove the bolts and it pivots nicely on the pins. Not fancy but for $85 it does the job.
Down.

Rough up of the planter cradle mounted using a pintle hook adapter for a 2" receiver.

Wow. A nice simple design carefully thought out with plenty of options. Great job,

Re: Poor man's wannabe 3 pt hitch adapter
I like the idea, but see two potential issues:
1) As you raise the lift the back of your planter will rotate down.
2) No float so unless you're using it on a perfectly level surface you're going to both end up in the air and trying to carry the tractor weight with the implement.
You can address both problems by making the mount hinged and use a chain or cable to lift the rear of the planter.

The receiver slot stays parallel all the way up and down so the cradle (1/4" steel) stays horizontal. The rear wheel will hang down a bit on the float suspension when it's lifted but not enough to be a problem. The planter floats within the mounting cradle.

I did not realize the planter floated in the cradle. You should be in good shape then.
Nice job.

Wow! Now you have me rethinking the 3 point hitch I built last spring for mine. I love the simplicity of it. I was looking at mine this afternoon and thinking there sure are a lot of pieces hanging on the back of the Cub.

Re: Poor man's wannabe 3 pt hitch adapter
A couple of people via PM's have shown an interest in making something similar so here's a diagram of the specific size Cat 1 three pt hitch adapter. They can vary slightly in sizes and this is the one that fits between the existing holes in the drawbar. I got my hitch adapter off of Ebay ($53.50), everything else came from Tractor Supply.

If you look close you'll see the seams of the huge piece of cardboard on the floor.

I keep mine parked on some big pieces of cardboard, but it's nowhere near that clean.

Re: Poor man's wannabe 3 pt hitch adapter
I wonder how well this might work with a 3 point middle buster such as you can’t find at tractors supply. Be nice to bust up small patch of ground for small garden. Getting cub moldboard would require me taking off the belly mower.
