knocking

hello all,
my 58 cub lo boy has a knocking sound that i think is near the rear of the engine. does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be?

Check the fingers on the pressure plate. One may be loose or out of position.

Edit. Also check the throw out bearing.

Hi,
The engine could have worn crankshaft bearings, when the bearings wear a certain amount, they make knocking sounds when the engine is running.
Sometimes the knocking is louder the faster the engine is running.
If it is worn crankshaft bearings, the engine needs repair before it ruins the crankshaft.

How is the oil pressure, an engine with worn crankshaft bearings probably has low oil pressure. :)

push the clutch in while listening to the noise to see if it goes away or changes
