I have had issues this year with a woods 42 belt on my '75. It ran well last year but this year it keeps throwing belts and lately breaking belts.
I have used the official woods belts and b133 belts no difference I have noticed
I tend to cut at a high setting in the rear as most of it is a pasture cut at~ 6" but this was in the middle and the highest setting in the back.
I did have a clutch problem and I had to replace the clutch the clutch pulley appears to run true. the back pullies have some dings in this but the belt lay in there.
Any suggestions as to what to check?

Re: woods 42 belt problems
Idlers shouldn’t be too uneven horizontally. Check angle of belt to mower pulley. Tight belt. There should be bracket on left side of mower to ‘guide’ belt. Alignment of belt from pto pulley to idlers in line. And assuming equipment in good working order. Make sure you haven’t lost a pin holding rear arm of mower

Re: woods 42 belt problems
Like Thomas said, all belts need to form a nice "L" (short leg is from PTO to idler pulleys), idlers at near the same height above the ground, and then a horizontal run to the main spindle. All idlers need to turn easily with no huge wobble. Once a belt twists, you likely won't be able to keep it on.

Re: woods 42 belt problems
I got new pullies and a new woods belt equilivent to a b133 and it still is throwing belts. I have the deck set to the middle in the back pin pivot point
The pullies are very high. I think the belt is too short. I am going to try a b136 belt
Also there appears a pitch adjustment on the deck that will drop the front of the deck a bit. Does any one think that will help
I really can not think what changed from last year. The only thing I can think of is the belt I had on was not standard and a little longer.
Any more suggestions?

Re: woods 42 belt problems
The front of the blades should be slightly lower the the rear, this insures you only cut the grass one time.

Re: woods 42 belt problems
I am not having a problem cutting or the tractor bogging down. It is just with the belt saying on. The tractor/ mower was great cutting.

Re: woods 42 belt problems
I think I have a -6 from Rudi's Manuals. that takes a b138 belt 5/8" X 140.875" Woods 27652 not a b133. I have been using the wrong belt.
