Another TC Problem

Postby Bill Hudson » Wed May 01, 2024 4:42 pm

My friend used his Cub yesterday with his Howard Rotavator and everything worked fine. Today the hydraulics will not work, no up, no down. He stopped the Cub yesterday with the rotavator up and it is still up. I realize that I'm way short on details, but you fellows know what I know.

Given that the TC just stopped working without warning, what are potential causes of the problem?

My first guess would be the gear came off the hydraulic pump. It would also not have any whine from the oil going through the piping.

Thanks for all your help. He topped off the fluid and it works as it should.

Now that we know that the fluid level was low, have him check the engine oil level to see if it is high.

I did and he assured me that the crankcase was full but not over full. He will, however, monitor the engine oil closely. If it creeps up. then we will pull the pump and address the leaking seal issue.
