So according to what I can find on my tractor:
Motor stamp is: IH 251341 R8D

Rear plate:
Woods model no: 59-c-2
Sn: 17894-2
Ther is a 3rd number on plate may the number manufactured : 497211

The hood is stickered: as McCormick Farmall cub

Deck is stickered as: woods 59

Looking for more info as to age, hp, mph/gal, recommended fluids, oil (engine and trans),antifreeze type, Greese for gear box and other parts, tire size (front and back), tow capacity, and other useful specs, average price in running condition.

Can anyone please help i am running into dead ends trying to find info on this awesome piece of fine craftsmanship.

If I am right it may have been made around 1979 but I am not sure.
 
Look at your serial number plate located on the right side of the tractor at the front. Find that serial number and you can tell what year it was made.
 
Look at the numbers on this plate. Use that number to get the year it was made.

Hi,
The Farmall Cub was made by International Harvester Company, they made many sizes of tractors.

The Woods rotary mower is made by the Woods company, it is an attachment made to fit a Cub.
They are a different company than made the tractor.
Woods made mowers to fit many different models of tractors.

The Farmall Cub name was used until mid 1964, then IH changed and used the International Cub name on the hoods.
If it says Farmall Cub, it can't be a 1979, unless someone has changed the names, or decals.

The 241341R8D is the engine block part number, it is not an identification number for the tractor.
I've never seen a D at the end of the number like you wrote on here.
The R8 does show approximate dates. IH started using the 8 in about 1964, when they changed the Cubs to 12 volts. I think the R8 was used until the end of Cubs, in 1979.
The engine could have been replaced in the past, and someone put in an engine that is newer than the tractor.
A Cub engine has about 12 horsepower.

The tractor model, and serial number are on the plate shown in the post above. If you find the number, you can figure out the year the Cub was made at the table of serial numbers, at the top of the page at Cub Info.
Sometimes the plate is painted over by someone, and you can't read the words.
The number is stamped in the plate, and sometimes can be seen under the paint.

Pictures of the Cub would be helpful.

The Cub operator's manual can help you learn about maintenance that the Cub needs.

If you knew the year of the Cub, I could post a link to one here.

Cub owner's and operator's manuals are at the upper left of the page, at Quick links, then go to PDF Manuals.
The experts on here recommend people read it. It has lots of info about operation, maintenance, and lubrication. There is a table of contents usually on page 1 or 2.
It shows how Cubs originally looked in it.
There are also manuals at the top of the page at Cub Info, then go to Rudi's Manuals.

It shows the electrical system that Cubs originally had.
Cubs made before mid 1964 originally had 6 volt, positive ground electrical systems.
After mid 1964 they have 12 volt negative ground systems.

The Touch Control uses Case IH Hy-Tran fluid. It is sold at Case IH dealers.
There are other brands, be sure it works with IH hydraulic systems before buying one.
The manual tells how to check and change the Touch Control fluid, and remove the air from the system.
Be sure to check the fluid with the arms in the rear, or down position, the manual says to also.

I would check or change all the oils before using the Cub. Using it with low oil in a gear housing can damage the parts in the housing.
There are 3 separate gear housings, with 3 separate oil levels to check, in the rear area of a Cub, the transmission, and 2 final drives.

The transmissions in Cubs commonly get water in them, from rain, or condensation inside the housing over time.

The air cleaner is an oil bath air cleaner. Dirt that is sucked in settles to the bottom of the oil cup. It should have clean, light motor oil in the oil cup to work right.

Unfortunately I am buying it from an individual who no longer has the manual. Thus the questions. All I can give you for info is what is stamped on the motor and on a woods manufacturers tag, which I stated above. Any help on this woods 59c-2 cub would be appreciated. From what can tell is it is a 1979.

Cubs looked about the same from mid 1964 - mid 1975. The yellow and white colors came out in mid 1964. I don't know if yours is the original paint or not.
Your pic is too small to see what year it might be, all I can see is it is a square front Cub, which came out in mid 1964, if it is the original hood and grille, people change parts on them to other years sometimes.

Look at the tractor serial number plate, it is where the long steering shaft goes into the housing, like is pictured above.
If you find the serial number you can find the year, like I wrote above.

If the plate is gone, there are casting date codes cast into the larger parts of the Cub, that you can use to identify the year the parts were made.

Plate is missing all I have is the engine stamp. Have a question. Where is the transmission and how do I fill it? I know I sound like a newbie, But this is my son's first tractor and I am unfamiliar with it. Is the fill under the seat with a square plug? And is that 80-90w gear oil that i use?
 
Yes, it’s the square plug just to the rear of the shift lever. The drain plug is a similar plug, on the bottom of the case, there is a small level check plug low on the left front side of the case. Don’t overfill it, it only takes 3 1/2 pints and yes, many of us use 80/90 gear oil.
 
Below is a page from the Cub operator's manual, showing where the engine serial number is, in the lower pic on the page.
If the engine has been replaced, it probably won't be the original number.

The transmission is under where the gear shift lever is.
It is under where the square pattern of bolts is that hold the shift cover on.
The differential is rearward of the square bolt pattern.
Both use the same oil supply, they are connected inside the housing.
Checking and changing the oil is shown in the operator's manual.

It holds 3 1/2 Pints of oil. Fill it only to the level plug hole, like was said on page 1 of this post.
The filler plug is on top of the trans, to the rear of the shifter.
The level plug is low on the left side of the housing.
The drain plug is visible from under the platform.

Newer Cubs are supposed to use Hy-Tran fluid in the transmission and final drives.
Nowadays it is Case IH Hy-Tran fluid, it is sold at Case IH dealers.
There are other brands, be sure it works with IH tractors before buying it.

I posted info from TM Tractor on page 1 of this post so you could figure out the year the Cub is by using the casting date codes.
