Woods 59 L mower deck

Advice requested on a mowing deck for my 1970 International Harvester Cub. I’ve been looking at the Woods 59C but then a Woods 59L popped up. My understanding is that the L stands for left side discharge. Since the Cub has counter-rotating shaft it discharges on the right side. Can the belt configuration be adjusted (twisted) so that one could use a Woods 59L on a Cub? I’ll preface my question with the caveat that I am brand new to Cub tractors.

Thanks

I do not understand the L part either. The decals on mine are 59L,but it's been repainted by the PO. The spindles and naturally the blades turn clock wise works very well- great mower

I believe the L59 was used on tractors like the Farmall A, B, and other small tractors with a 'normal' PTO rotation direction (clockwise from the back of the tractor). You can put right hand discharge blades on a L59, but keep in mind that the bolts in the spindles will be threaded the wrong way and will loosen if you hit something with the blades. I discovered the previous owner of my Woods 59C had replaced a spindle with one from a L59 when one of the blades went flying off. Very dangerous. That said, you could criss-cross the belt to get it to spin for a left-hand discharge, but may end up with premature belt wear and may need a slightly longer belt to do so. As in all farmer engineering, go ahead and do whatever you need to do, especially if you can do it safely.

Jim, I’d really prefer the Woods 59C but so far I have not had much success in locating one. I was looking at potential options and I saw the Woods 59L. I don’t want to Gerry rig a mower deck to work due to the possibilities of hurting someone if a blade or something went rogue. I just want to cut grass.

I’ll continue on my quest for a 59C unless anyone has a recommendation for another 5’ mower deck for a Cub.

Thanks for your input.

I'm thinking mine must have the wrong decals on it then because the bolts tighten when the blade hits something

L59 has left hand thread bolts for the blades
59 has right hand threads
