Woods 42" mower

Jack

501 Club
Hello, I am going to pickup a woods 42 " belly mower for my cub, I never had one before or used one.
Is there a manual that would show how to hook up to the cub? I looked in the pdf manual section, but didn't see anything for woods mower.
Thank you
Jack

I brought home the woods 42c -6 mower, and after cleaning it up and looking at the manual , I noticed that mine has two chains to lift it. According to the manual it shows a lifting bars, I'm not sure how or where to hook the two chains up. Any help will be deeply appreciated , or even a few pictures of the setup
Thank you Jack

My guess, lower hole in the rock shaft. Take a look at how the lifting links attach to the hydraulic arm/rock shaft in the PDF manual.

Both of mine has the 2 chains hooked together then 1 chain from there up to the lift bracket. ---that allows a bit of give to keep deck running level on the front.---Don't know what's s'posed to hook to what but mine came that way and worked. --The third one has 1 bar going down from lift bracket to deck,--its still on a cub.
One is on an Allis B tractor. Second one is not on a tractor. Can take pix. if it would help anybody.

I looked in all the manuals in the pdf section., none show how the chains hook up to the rockshaft, they'll show the lifting bars

I hate to ask a stupid question, but are you sure it is a Woods 42 (single arbor), and not a bush Hog or Danco, they used chain lifts as did the Woods 59, which has 3 arbors and blades rather than one.

The tag on the belt cover states ( 42c-6) and the decals all say (woods 42)

sounds maybe the linkage is missing and someone added the chains to make it work
All the pictures I have seen, and the manuals show the mower with the linkage

Hi,
The Woods 59C-2 rotary mower had 2 lift chains that attach to brackets welded on the top of mower, and it uses a bracket that bolts onto the right rockshaft arm with 2 bolts, lock washers, and nuts.

Below is a page from the Woods 59C-2 manual showing it. I don't know if your lift is like this or not.

The Woods 42 manuals show a lift bar. :)

tst isn’t disagreeing. He is saying previous owner didn’t have the linkage and improvised. You can use it with the chains just fine. All it does is lift and lower. Or you can place an ad here on the forum for the proper linkage

I know tst wasn't disagreeing, I'm going to try and find the correct linkage for it
Thank you

How about some photos of your chains, mower deck, and any metal attached to the chains.

My thought is that if the previous owner used the chains, they work for lifting the mower deck. At the most you could easily make the bar that attaches to the rockshaft.

Happy Easter everyone,
Here a some photos of my woods mower

I believe that last photo shows the bracket (2 pieces) that would bolt to the rockshaft, and the chains would hook into (one into each oblong hole), at your desired length.
