Wiring routes

While my '48 Cub has had lots of care over the years, the shadetree engineers who maintained it took a few (dozen...) shortcuts. For example, the cable from battery to starter just hangs down loose under her belly. Is there a good picture somewhere of the correct way to route and secure new cables as I get them?

Operator's Manual for the tractor, wiring diagram.

Wiring diagram will indicate the electrical wire routing and location of the clips holding the wires.

If missing, clips should be available at hardware, auto parts stores or auto body shops.

I don't have a link to a wiring diagram, but the battery cable originally went down a notch at the rear of the platform, was held under the platform with clips, then came up alongside the clutch pedal and continued up under the hood and passes along the edge to just above the starter then went down to the starter. Not the ideal setup in in my opinion, but that was the way they did it. I think if you go to the parts manuals at the top of the page you will find some diagrams showing it.

Thanks guys. When I had printed the manual, the pictures came out too grainy to go by. But from the description (and the how-to, which is outstanding) I'm back on track. Appreciate it!

Bigdog's routing is better than the original in my opinion. The original rout had it coming up right at the front of the floor plate and a clip bolted where you can see the bolt hole between the two pedals. That caused a tendency for the clutch pedal to rub the battery cable if there was any slack in it.

I thought about using the automotive flexible wire harness casing to run the battery cable with the rear running light and the spotlight wires all in one neat clean looking harness.
