Wiring Question

Well I'm just about to start making a wiring harness for my cub and I seem to have run into a snag. I've got the 6 volt generator and a 3 post not a 4 post regulator. Now every wiring diagram I've seen is for the 4 post regulator unless I'm not reading them right. Basically I just need to know where to hook the wires up to So I don't blow anything up. And I'm hoping the old combo switch still works But I'll run some tests to find out.

Oh ya and before I forget I was a little bummed to find out I cant get any lens's, reflectors, or bulbs for the cool rear light, That was on the tractor. It's the one that had a external red light on top of the rear light. It would have looked preety sweet, But I couldn't seem to find any parts. So I just went and orderd 3 new lights from Yesterdays Tractors.

And One more. The cubs dash had two switches in it. I know one is for the mag but what is the second switch suposed to do? And No I'm not refering to the combo switch. 8)

Use this diagram:

to wire the cub.

I have seen lenses and reflectors in the catalogs - check the advertizers in Red Power Magazine. Check some of our sponsors for good used ones. Of course, since you have ordered new lights you could just ship those junky old ones to me and I'll see that they are properly disposed of.

Should only be a mag switch and light switch in the dash. Some had fuse holders.

Hey John, I have that light on my 50 (well, near it anyway).

The last version of the IH operators manual has real good diagrams. If I recall it is only about $17 from a dealer. Also, the harness is about $45 from the factory. I have a lead on good quality connectors, but havent talked to em yet, that is the biggest problem I see with making one is it is pretty hard to find decent terminals.

For the light.... OEM sells a replacement, so you may be able to get the pieces from them. Try this https://secure.innotech-inc.com/oem/def ... d=48&go=10

Good luck!

hey johns

I called tom at tm tractor parts a while back and asked about a wiring harness. He has the rear but not the front. he gave me a number that I lost but the website is http://www.brillman.com. his mane is john and i called him and he makes everything inculding cotton braided cable and it was beautiful. each item was numerically marked and he sends a guide.

It was cheap and all he did was ask what year and the ignition type and presto the mail arrived. It was very easy.

Good luck

John if your 3 post regulator is mounted on top of the generator, it is a cutout, not a regulator, In which case I assume you alos have a 4 position light switch (LO - HI- DIM - Brite). Teh 4 wire harness IH sless for about 45 dollars would be correct, but will not inlcude the wires for rear lights, distributor, or mag, dependign on which you have. Teh IH kit is good quality, but is modern wiring, not the old cloth covered kit like the original.
