Who sells the best aftermarket starter

Just pulled my starter apart and don't like the looks of the bendix and gear, brushes and bushings, basically worn out. I haven't tested the electrical yet.
Who sells the best aftermarket starter? Yeah I know, get it rebuilt, I will if I can find someone around here (lost art, everyonehas retired). I will take a shot at a rebuild this winter, but I will likely have to make tools, hence my question above.

This a twelve volt battery on a 6 volt electric starter motor ?
If so rewire starter motor with 12 volt kit .
Replace bendix and flywheel ring gear by splitting the cub at bell housing.

Appreciate the feedback, but every auto electric shop I have found is a 1000 miles away. I have reached out to a couple, but the cost of the starter, plus shipping will likely push the part into the $300 - $400 range. That is half of what I paid for the tractor. I'll likely buy cheap, and try to repair myself.

https://www.buckeyeautoelectric.com/ This outfit is top notch. Old school, reliable, top quality work. You are quite a ways away, but certainly worth a phone call.
Bill Hudson is absolutely right on about Buckeye auto electric in painesville Ohio
They have done two 6 volt Farmall Delco starters , one 12 volt delco starter generator , and two Farmall c six volt delco generators and test cutouts as a system for me before I leave the shop . And other advice from them about electric issues.
I refuse to hand crank another tractor myself if it has a starter it’s going work flawlessly anytime I want use it .
I stopped doing it myself and went to them , by the time I put the armature on the lathe true the armature e then a cut the commutator under cut the commutator mica insulation , I,
‘ ve exceeded the cost of buckeye auto electric to rebuild it the unit entirely . Just makes sense to me to have them do it.
I’ve tried to do it cheap, never works for me . Every time ends costing me twice as much for redoing. My advice

I bought a brand new starter last fall for my 140 because I was moving in a few days and I had to load the tractor on a semi. My starter was beyond repair. I paid around $450 for it. I'm planning on painting it gold because it must be made of it. I don't recall the company that made it but it has taken many starts before it was loose enough for the bendix to kick back right away after it starts. It spins fast and hasn't failed but it did need to be "broken in".... which I find odd. My battery/starter/generator so said it is normal for a new tractor starter. I don't know where you live but keep poking around. There is likely some obscure shop within a couple hours of your and it will give you an excuse to take a road trip (or 2). 🙂

Just a thought, a call (website is for members only) to the Electrical Rebuilders Association (636-584-7400) to ask for members in your area might be helpful.
