What Can Happen If You Attach A Chain Above Your Drawbar?

I agree with Jim here. Always pull from the axle down, not above the rear axle. Geometry, if done wrong, will kill you eventually.

(y) Right On Thomas! Not worth the gamble. I once heard someone say that given the right leverage and fulcrum combination just about anything can be moved. JMHO Stan

That was not a safe thing to do. What would the failure mode have been if the barn still didn't move? Or what would happen if the barn moved part way then happened to hit some obstruction such as a rock or the stump of some small tree or bush?

You could have safely gained some pull if there was room to lower the barn end of the chain.
Perfectly safe in “our” unique situation.

With a 12 speed trans and going slow.

No rocks, stumps, trees or bushes.

The barn end was hooked as low as possible.
