Questions about two items

First have a bar under the tractor attached to the finial drives. Not sure what it is used for.

Next have two holes in the hood that appear factory--not the generator oil holes. Wondering what the were used for. Only have a photo of the right side of the hood, left side has same hole. Also, on the left side radiator mount, there is a bracket that lines up with the hole. Bracket has a nut welded to it so assume something mounted there. Bracket not there on right side but can see it was there at some point.

Those hood holes are where the brackets on each side (that hold the front of the hood in place) WERE welded on. It is common to see them broken out like that. If you look under the hood where those holes are, you'll probably see the bracket bolted to the radiator side channels.

They can be welded back on, but you have to be careful to get them in the proper position. TM tractors has them:

I plan to leave it in place. It's only in the way of changing the transmission fluid. Mower is more of a hassle.

Just removed it to change the diff oil and replaced. Didn't know I could just loosen the bolts and it lifted off.
