I have a 48 Cub Ser# 57351. The generator model is 1101355 and has a 3-position light switch. The ignition was a Fairbanks-Morse Mag that I converted to 6-volt battery ignition. The generator was not connected due to a deteriorated wiring harness. The voltage reg/cutout is a saddle type with 3 connections on the front side and one on the back with two coils with numbers stamp in ink 4KD and 1409 6v pos. On a visual inspection the generator looks freshly rebuilt and the reg/cutout is fairly new. The previous owner was using a 12-volt battery for starting. My question is this the correct reg/cutout. I have just purchased a wiring harness from Brillman for the early cubs. The wiring harness calls for a 4-position light switch.
Could it be on this reg just connecting the wires from the harness that it becomes the cutout relay? Just want to make sure before connecting it all together that it doesn't fry the generator or the wiring harness.
Any help to get this corrected would be greatly appreciated.
