tires

a few years ago, I bought front tires for my ford 800 on amazon. Thay were in my price range, and I needed them. they were low quality and did not hold up very well. now I find myself in the market for front tires for my cub. I'm not going to buy tires form Indonesia again. even Farm king tires are not made in the US anymore. I'm looking for recommendations.

Is there a dealer nearby that works with tractor tires? I bought a rear tire for my cub from one here a couple of years ago and two rear tires for my 404 a couple of months ago. I am happy with the service. I don't remember the cost of the cub tire but the tires for the 404 were $800 with a brand name nearly twice that. I had tubes put in, the tires were loaded so there was a fee to remove that and since I will not load a tire (they were loaded when I bought the tractor) an envoromental fee to dispose of it. All that added another $600. Still I don't think that was too bad. I'll check to see where the tires were made. Unlike Anazon a local business has to live with the sale. Vern

Internet search for USA manufactured farm tires. You will come up with several manufactures listed. Problem is that most of the USA manufacturers have facilities in other countries.

Few years back I purchased a matched set of rears for my Cub. Manufactured in two different countries.

I use the local tire dealers. They have to stand behind the products they sell and will not normally sell you something they consider poor quality.

I, too, would look for tires locally before I went online. If that doesn’t work out, take a look at millertire.com or simpletire.com .

Tires were made in India under the AGSTAR name. At my age they will probably outlast me. When I said a dealer familiar with farm tires let me describe Perkins. They are in a rural area in a town so big it has a blinker lighet at the main four corners. Your big green thing with yaller wheels down? No problem ask for a service truck, add $250. It can jack up ypur tractor or implement and peel the tire off the rim with the rim left on the implement and preform the needed work. They have quite a good name in the area and I guess I trust them to know what they are doing. Vern

Miller Tire has been the go-to recommendation for years on this forum. They don't sell "cheap" tires. They only sell good tires. They even handle period-correct tread styles if that's important to you.

You can't go wrong with Firestone or Good Year, but be ready to get out your wallet.

Does the tractor sit outside? You might want to just go with cheap tires and be willing to change them out every few years, because the sun really does a number on any tire regardless of brand. I'd hate to see you pay $110 each for Firestones, and have them all dry rotted and falling off in 3 years just like the $35 Offshore Specials.

I suggest you go to a Truck, ag, heavy equipment place and get some pricing before you purchase online. You may be surprised.

just yesterday I went to a truck tire place yesterday to get some used turf tires swapped out on some old-style rims. They handle tractors, heavy equipment and tractor trailer tires. I asked about some new tires and they have good prices and it included mounting. I asked about some rear tires for a backhoe I have and they had a better tire 10 ply vs 8 ply, same brand, for 1/2 what I found it for online.
