Tire chain size.. will this swap work?

I was thinking about getting a plow to put on my 1949 standard Cub. It occurs to me that I would need tire chains, and I have a set of chains for the 13.6- 16 size flotation tires, but I have regular 18.3 x 24 tires on the standard Cub. They are about the same outside diameter, of course… But will these chains work on the standard Cub? I could go double check it but I’d have to find the damn things in the shed and fight with them... wondering if anyone already knows the answer?

The 13.6-16 tire chains maybe too wide for the 18.3x24 tires. You could get the large pliers for making chains and remove some cross links till there the correct width. The close up the end hooks. Or buy new cross links and side chains but it maybe cheaper this way. Look for used chains?

You need rear wheel weights and tire chains, depending on where you live some use two sets of rear wheel weights and front weights to steer better.

Wear gloves when handling chains don’t get bit.

I have 8.3 turf tires on right now. I’m thinking about cutting down the chains a bit in length to make them fit properly.

Neat tool. It makes the job more a likable project . I wouldn't cut anything short when i was young. These days, go for it :D
I've read that wider chains can get bunched up at the inside and score out the fenders but maybe that was how they were tied. It is good to have traction all around the drive tires but don't want the sidewalls to be cut.

Seems like a lot of trouble. Why don’t you post them on the vine to barter for a set made for 8.3x24.
