Ya. Well. Can't say much.
As a kid in that era, I use to make $600- or a bit more working all summer in the hay fields at a $1- per hour. Go swimming the city pool after work. Thought life was pretty good. TV sucked, 1 station. Heck, the neighbor kids and I would play baseball in the city street until time to come in for supper and bedtime.
Dad bought me a 1950 Ford Custom Deluxe for $35-. Few years back I saw one at the gas station for $11,000-. And it was in terrible condition.
Inflation, guess you could say the same thing about the current cost of living.
