Made two runs to the scrap yard and dumped 720 lbs of metal. How the heck did I accumulate so much? :shock:
That's a load off.....

With the price of scrap steel below $100- a ton, it just accumulates.
Metal detecting, I frequently find pieces of machinery, big nuts, bolts, and other scrap metal. I add that to the acreage scrap pile.
Probably have several tons of assorted steel on an acreage concrete pad. Loading up, and then with a 60 - 70 mile round trip to the scrap yard, it's not worth it.
Besides that, if we need metal for a project, scrap pile search.

I have a disabled fellow, who stops in occasionally, and I give him my scrap metal. Works out well, I get rid of it and he get's a little spending money. He'll take about anything, even the stuff I can't figure out how to dispose of. Like Stanton said, it's not worth my trouble and I avoid the flat tires that often happen at the scrap yard.
