storing christmas lights

I have some strings of LED icicle lights, some star shaped lights, etc. that are a real pain. When you try to untangle them to install they wrap around each other tangle, etc. and in general are a real headache. This year as I wrapped up and tied each of them I put the individual string in a plastic shopping bag and folded it over. Hopefully it will make the easier to untangle next Christmas.

That's the way I do it. i also have about a dozen winders that hold about seven strands each. Once those are full I get the plastic bags out.

Em puts them back in the box we got them in. :big say what: Don't ask how :big give up: cause frankly I gave up years ago...

I have a few of the winders, but the icicle LEDs I recently bought tend to grab the other strings even on the winder, so I decided to use the bags. They still grab, but at least I only have to fight one string at a time. :?

Rudi, someday I hope to meet EM. Anyone that can put Christmas lights, or much of anything else back in the box it was packed in has a special talent. :D

John, I just reread your post. I never caught it the first time that you were talking about icicle lights. I need to slow down and quit trying to read like Evelyn Woods. I agree the winders aren't good for the icicle lights either. Those I put in bags like you then store the bags in one of the empty tree boxes. (I don't even try to put the tree back in their packages). :)
