Steel T post straightener

Ideas wanted for a jig to straighten fencing T posts.

Have a hydraulic press, lots of scrap steel, and quite a few posts that need to be straightened.

Have you tried putting the t post in a hitch receiver and pulling up or pushing down? T posts bend pretty easy.

You can do this and also slide a pipe over them for more leverage if needed.

Good idea. I have a hitch receiver on one of the welding benches. Will try a T post to see if I have enough length under the bench for most of the post.

Problem is, most of my posts get bent just above the blade and some are bent sideways. Darn livestock.

Good idea.

Welded a 2" receiver under the welding bench.

Used 3/4" square stock (2 ea.), and 1/2" square stock (2 ea.) to make spacers to slide in along side the T post to keep it from rolling in the receiver hitch. Welded a tab protruding over only one side of each spacer so that I could pull the spacers out.

Works pretty good, specially on T posts with twists.
