Steel rims vs cast iron

I put new rear tires on my Cub a couple of months ago. I just acquired a 1948 JD m and the front rims are cast iron. I’m curious about any tricks or don’t ever do’s for doing the tires on cast rims. Any experience or advice would be helpful. Thanks
Charles

My JD H had the cast front wheels, one of them had a chunk missing, I assume from someone attempting tire mounting. It would probably be best to take it to a shop with a modern tire machine. They can remove / install a tire without even touching the bead area of the wheel.

I mounted up a couple on cast rime for our JD L without incident. Just can't be forcing anything and also use plenty of lube/bead grease. The other option is what Gary said above.
