Sprung a leak on the SC

While using the Farmall Super C with the blade on back I looked down at my feet and saw a large pool of hydraulic fluid forming on the transmission top. I suspected one of the two lines that go to the block in front of the seat base. The rubber is falling off and they are all rusty, but neither was leaking. Ran my bore scope up underneath the seat and could see oil pouring out of one of the lines that run under the seat base. Looks like I need to get this pulled apart and get new lines made up. The battery will die if it sits more than a day so it needs replacing also.

I don't know how many hundreds of times I have said that...It is always something with these things and doesn't matter what brand.

Both the hoses and battery have been on this tractor for a long time. It just time and then hopefully I won't have to worry about them if the new will last like the old ones did. Dad always said if your not breaking anything your not workin'.

Sent my 560 hose to New Hydraulic , they rebuilt the hose and returned to me . Removed it sent it in they sent it back .should have down this first thing .

Thanks for the link. We have a local shop that can make up new ones, that is if they are still doing it.

Pulled the seat off and only broke 2 bolts. One in the hydraulic block at the front of the seat and the other is for the rockshaft pivot plate on the side of the seat. Its 2 1/4" long and goes thru the trans cover so to fix it I may be pulling the cover. That bolt was apple cored from rust. Looks like I need a spot in the shop.

were you successful getting sheared off bolts outs of top plate ?
I've been soaking it with penetrant and yesterday I gave it a couple heat cycles with the acetylene torch. The stem of the bolt sticks up in the deck pocket so I can easily weld a nut on it. If that doesn't work I may have to pull the trans cover to get it out. I plan on trying it this weekend.

I like you got hoses , my 560 has precision bent steel tubing under the tool box . Which is exactly where they rust out . Not a very easily repaired or replacement. Press ahead there .
My 230 has a steel pipe that had rusted through when I got it. I was able to braze it up and so far its holding.

I was able to weld a nut onto a 1/4 broke off bolt and got it removed from the block at the front of the seat for the hydraulic lines. While sandblasting the John Deere wheels I blasted around the broke off bolt in the trans cover. That cleaned a lot of rust out around the bolt. Hopefully I can weld a nut on and get it out without removing the deck/cover.

I put this off long enough. Had penetrant soaking for a couple weeks and figured I better weld a nut on and see if the broken bolt will back out. First nut it broke again so more heat and a larger nut to get a better weld and it backed out. Boy what a relief. I figured I would have to pull the top cover off to get at it. Now I am wondering if I should go with a grade 8 bolt to replace this. Definitely need to do something to keep the water out of the bolt hole.

I installed the hoses and distribution block on the Farmall Super C. I need to remove a 90° fitting thats on the back lift cylinder to get the hoses straightened out. Bought a couple of grade 8 bolts for the seat/rockshaft brackets. The old bolt was the original that didn't break.

Removed the 90° fitting in the cylinder which got the lines laying better. Didn't want to weld in the rusted area on the cover for the hydraulic lines so I gave it a quick rattle can rebuild. I need to test the hydraulics for leaks before I bolt the seat down. Hopefully I have some Hy-tran around to refill the system.
