Snow plow/grader blade question

Hi all!

My 140 came with the snow plow that can be mounted out front or underneath the tractor. I've been using it to move snow around in the winter mounted out front. I've added a fast hitch since I bought the tractor and I'm thinking about moving the blade to the location under the tractor (where it was when I bought it) but it looks like I would need to remove the wishbone and brackets in order to put the blade mount on the rear of the tractor. Can anyone verify this? Also, has anyone rigged this sort of blade up using the fast hitch as the rear mount?

Thanks for all the help, always!

Tom

You can mount it underneath with the Fast-Hitch in place. You need to have the substitute drawbar that attaches to the final drives. You should have that unless the previous owner used a reversed standard drawbar. You will also need to remove the Fast-Hitch draft link and fasten the hitch bail to the bottom of the platform.

There are Fast-Hitch rear mounted blades. You would not have to use one very much before concluding you would rather use one mounted underneath.

Thanks Jim.

The rear mount I have looks to have been majorly rebuilt at some point but it's not just a standard drawbar that was reversed. The brackets that attach to the final drives have thin steel plates that may actually fit between the fast hitch brackets and the final drives. I will take a look at this tomorrow. I'm glad to know that this might all work out well.

Thanks for the warning on a rear blade. I've often wondered how those are to use. I bet a sore neck is in order if they are used for any time going in reverse. 😆

rear mount blades are floppy for the most part and you cant control them. --- undermount and never look back! easy to use and do super good job!
