Snow blade price

I found a Cub snow blade / front blade for sale near me (southeastern Michigan) and I might go check it out this week if it's still available. Curious as to what they go for? It appears to have all the necessary parts. The guy has some photos of it hooked up to his tractor, so it appears everything is there. It's a little rusty, but I could easily clean it up and paint it, not too worried about that.

He said he was looking to get $200 for it. That seems fair to me, but I don't want to get ripped off if that's kind of high in reality. Also don't want to offend the guy and offer $150 if $200 is already a pretty fair price.

Kind of hoping it works out as then I'll have all the main implements I was looking to get (one bottom plow, cultivators, discs, and then the front blade).

Appreciate any input!

$200 may be a reasonable price. Can you attach the photos so we can get a better look at it? I'd suggest printing off some pictures either out of the manual or from TM's gallery to take along with you. Make sure you get the boomerang that is attached to the lifting rockshaft (either manual or hydraulic). You also want the two square blocks that go in the implement tube on bottom of the steering casting. They center the 12" bolt that goes through there.

As Bob stated, if this unit is totally complete, that is a very fair price. It's really hard to find a nice complete one for less than 275/300 dollars anywhere.

Ok I saved a bunch of pics on my phone. I’ll make sure all the parts are there. I’ll look over the manual as well.

I would not be posting this if I were you. I would have home and then post about the deal I got. Even if it is not complete ( depending on the which part) it is a deal.

Picked up the blade today. Got it for $200. I think all the parts are there. I asked the guy to throw in the hardware too if he didn’t mind. So I got some bolts, washers, and nuts too. It came with that square block that goes in the front bolster are.

Can you guys tell if I’m missing any parts?

I don't see the 12" x 5/8" bolt that goes through the square implement tube, or the boomerang.

Ok, so it’s one long bolt that goes through the square piece?

What is the boomerang and where does that fit?

The boomerang attaches to the hydraulic rockshaft. TM has lots of pictures and there is a manual in the PDF Manuals.

I checked it out, I see what you’re saying. JP tractor salvage has the boomerangs. I’ll see if I can get the 12” bolt from the hardware store or TM tractor.

WOW! Look at that truck bed!!! Is your truck brand new!!??? And have you ever put anything back there before???

Haha! Yes it’s a 2023, just got it in July. Haven’t had much back there yet.

Hi,
You could ask the person you bought the blade from if he has the missing parts, the one might be on his Cub Touch Control arm. Take the Cub 54 Blade owner's manual along on your phone, and show him the picture of it in the blade parts.
Below is the page from the manual showing the bell crank extension, they call it in the manual. Paragraph 5 on the page tells about putting it on the Touch Control arm.

Below is the whole manual. It has lots of info and shows how to put the blade on the Cub. :)

I don't think this one uses the long bolt. This doesn't have the blocks but rather a bar and I believe the bar is threaded at each end and uses the bolts shown next to it in the photos (green arrows).

Careful you don't lose the bushing (red arrow).

I have never had the boomerang....didn't know about it until a couple years ago....and it has been working well every winter. If you can get one reasonably priced then okay.

Good point about the boomerang being on the tractor still. I checked the guy's photos out of the blade when it was mounted on the tractor and there is no boomerang present. It's just mounted directly to the touch control arm. That rules that possibility out.

Good catch Radioguy41. I just degreased/cleaned some of the parts today and noticed that red block in the photo is hollow in the center but has threaded ends on each end. I don't think a long bolt goes through that. Like you said, likely two shorter bolts.

I did see a bushing in the arm like you pointed out. Glad it didn't fall out!

Once I finish cleaning/sanding the parts and get them painted, I'll try mounting it on the tractor.

$200 is a great price for a Michigan snow blade! I normally see these for about $300 here. Hopefully that boomerang is less than $100.
