Sediment bowl screen

My cub is a 1949 and starting leaking fuel around the glass bowl. I ordered a new screen and cork gasket and when pulled the bowl to replace the screen I found a screen different than what everyone sells as a replacement. I've attached a photo of the underside of the "cup" the bowl sits under and both screens. The screen that came out has the plastic reinforcement and a large center hole. The replacement screens hole is too small to fit over the center section of the "cup". Why am I being sent a screen that doesn't fit? Is my sediment bowl assembly the wrong one?

It looks like your old one is better than the new one. Can you just clean the old one and reuse it?

They both are sold. I have both and both work. I think the original without the seal and the original style seal may be better.

I had the exact same plastic screen/gasket combo in a sediment bowl from Steiner. I bought a screen and cork gasket from Tractor Supply. USA made and under $5. I just had to enlarge the center hole a little bit by pushing a sharpie through it. Haven’t had any leaks with it.

Me too! Couldn't get that plastic one to seal at all. Went back to a new brass screen & cork washer. Just gently pressed the screen around the center.
