Sandy..... Almost a miss

501 Club
First tree down. Lost 8 trees in the last hurricane. Took out a hood and a head lamp from what I see. Too crazy to stay out there !

Oh no Gary, ya stay inside hope the damage isn't too bad, I put all of my done-up pieces inside (including the newest cub) where hopefully they will be better protected, the other stuff will have to fend for themselves.

I rode out Hurricane Ike a few years back.......after that I swore I would never do it again......it hit our area in the middle of the night .....not a great feeling when you are hearing trees snap and big crashes but you can't see what is going on outside...the hurricane force winds lasted for over 10 hours..... Next time I will be watching it on TV from a relatives house or hotel lobby somewhere far away.....

Good luck..we are praying for you all.

Man I hope that's all the damage you incur. Stay inside if it's gettin rough there. Gotta be sickening to see that.

I just don't have enough space for everything. I need to sell some tractors. It's heartbreaking to see them get damaged like this. The news report says we'll still have a few hrs before we even see the eight of it. High winds throught 11pm EST

Just looked at the NOAA site...you guys are in for the dirty side of the storm......Like I said ....we are all praying for you....again ...good luck..

Correction...wrong map....thought I was looking at the hurricane force wind map.....but it was the tropical storm wind map....still not good though up to 39 knot winds.

Anyone heard from Ed, Larry or the CT boys?

Pm'd Larry this morning. he did reply back. A lot of power outages in the past few hrs. Larry (buzzardwing), Bob Perry, Chris (Capecodcubs), Bob (spaceghost), etc live in Dartmouth Ma and there are now mandatory evacuations taking place in parts of Dartmouth.

Just windy rain here so far- steady 30 mph wind. It will be very, very bad for anyone South of Route 1 in Connecticut with greater than 100 year flooding tonight. Trucks have been banned since 11, all other non-essential traffic has been banned since 1PM

High tide between 9PM and Midnight. Hurricane force gusts at the coast. Looks like Delmarva is getting the big soak. Not much rain predicted for here.

Perry's are doing carpentry project all day, in the shop. whenever the power goes out it comes back in a few minutes. Lotsa trees blocking roads, I wanted to take a generator to son 6 miles away but that ain't gonna happen for a while.

I'm ok, Greg 49 is ok, but his back yard is flooding, and there's still a couple of hours to high tide. Called Larry, got no answer. Cecil just called, microburst or mini tornado took down the power poles, near his house. No power. Prior to that, 30 mph winds. Been gusting here, to 60 mph. Northern part of town is without power, we still have it. Ed

Praying for all yall cubbers up north.
Being from down here in louisiana, I know what its like
to have put up with the inconvenience of a storm like
that.take care and hang in there!!

Kit sumner is ok, lost power. Bob Phillips (Spaceghost) also ok, lost power, but has a great generator.(Lent it to me, last year. I have more hours on it, than he does) Ed

I am glad that y'all are safe and that Sandy doesn't do too much damage. It is still fine here - we are expecting Sandy to start affecting us in the Maritimes by tomorrow or Wednesday.

The server unfortunately is already a casualty - it is down. I think it is power failure related but don't know for sure.

Gary, it is sad to see that a couple of your tractors were damaged. I do hope you can get them under stronger cover soon. I just managed to get the 3rd Cub into the pole barn yesterday.

Pine tree came down across private road behind us, took down power lines and destroyed the chicken pen fence. Coop and shed OK. Pictures in the morning.

Peter

I am on pretty high ground.... Although within a mile from the ocean, the coastline is a cliff (AKA Cliff Walk) so it would take quite a surge to get near me.

The wind was busy for a while and when talking to my neighbor a tree fell on her car, the good thing is the wires to the house are supporting most of the weight

My only big tree leafed out in the spring and then all the leaves fell off the tallest branch. Had a very impressive crew take it down a month ago. Crane and a chipper are great tools! Sure glad I didn't put that off.

Gonna get that generator working one day.... but Cubs seem to take priority in my garage!

Must be getting old, took a nap instead of my usual trek to watch the sea churn. It is something to see!
