I mentioned before our son was finally coming home after ten months in Iraq. His unit is now at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas. He just called today and one of his men who has been with him through it all slipped in the barracks laundry room and hit his head. It appears to be very serious. He will probably survive but has suffered extensive brain damage. Sometimes it makes one wonder just how things work.

Glad your son made it home safe and sound and in time for the Holidays. We shall pray for the young man who was injured. It does seem strange that he was able to survive Iraq and then this happens.
I am sure that God is watching over him, and that there is a rhyme and reason for what happens. It is just beyond our ken to know why.
For your son and the rest of his unit - pass on from a Canadian vet - Bravo Zulu - well done! We appreciate all that these soldiers have done to right wrongs and bring peace and stability to the middle east and security to our homelands.

Thanks to all of you for supporting our troops. Believe me it means alot to them. I'll pass your comments on to our son. I also contacted our local ABC news station to see if they might give his unit some recognition when they finally get back to their base in Irvine Ca. Should be sometime in mid January. Supposedly between 911 and Operation Iraqi Freedom his reserve unit has been deployed longer than most.
