Rustoluem Painting a Cub

I was thinking of painting my Cub later this May. I was curious what all of you are using in your mixture if you are using the Rustoleum Farm and Implemnt Gallon Bucket.

I've been spraying parts on a LoBoy with Ace International Red (which is made by Rustoleum). It is not as dark as 2150, but with the whole tractor the same it shouldn't matter. They have quarts too.

I've used Rustoleum red on tons of parts, but never a whole tractor. However, I would have no issue painting a complete tractor with it. I think it very closely matches Iron Guard 2150.

Hi,
Another brand of paint that they have said on here is good, and lasts well, is the Case IH paint, it is sold at their dealers. They have spray cans, quarts, and maybe bigger sizes, the last I know of.
TM Tractor Parts sells the spray cans, below are listings, you can look at the color of the caps.
You didn't say what color you need. :)

Since you have already selected the paint you want to use I will try to answer your actual question. You could add a hardner, BUT you will need a very good respirator. Never use hardner with out the proper equipment.

So I used Rustoleum international red and Vansickle enamel reducer for mine. Just painted it a couple months ago so time will tell. I reduced it down about 20%.

No complaints about the International Iron Guard paint. Used it as part of total restoration in year 2001 and still gets heads to turn. Yes, a bit of hardener, too, but it still looks new. Spray can are over $20 now at the dealer, and as mentioned, quarts are available, as well. In fact, many folks at the shows have accused me of using automotive paint with base coat/clear coat. Nope. Just tractor paint. I'd do the same all over again, if I had to start over.

If you use hardener make sure it is for ENAMEL paint. I buy my enamel hardener at tractor supply and use the exact ratio if not the paint job will come out cloudy.

Also as Barnyard said…..wear a respirator because the hardener in the paint will do exactly that…..it will harden the air sacs in your lungs and that is not a good thing but very VERY bad.

Full body protection and supplied air breathing apparatus is the recommended PPE for isocyanate hardeners. Use anything less at your own peril.

I've been can spraying parts with Rustoleum International Red Farm Ag paint. Placed side by side with a part sprayed with 2150, the Rustoleum is noticeably a shade darker. I'll be spraying the Rustoleum red with hardener added on a larger scale , whole tractor this spring as well.

Do you spray a clear coat afterwards?
