Rain

We got 1.4 inches of much needed rain last night, lawns were brown and fields were in bad need of rain. I hope other people that where in need received some also.

That’s all it’s done all year here on the Jersey Shore. About the wettest year we’ve had in a long time. Been forced to do a lot of projects in the rain. Pretty much sick of it.

The garden is well watered. I forgot to turn the sprinkler off, it ran for over 12 hrs. wed. night to thurs. morning, then we got about 2 1/2" of rain Thurs. night and Fri. The grass is really turning green again now too. John

Today we got over 2". Surprisingly, as dry as it was all summer, we had the best garden I think we've ever had. The freezer and cupboard are full of corn, beets, beans and tomatoes Saturday Debbie picked beans , then I disked where they were yesterday to get ready to try to plant some peas. I don't think thats gonna happen for a few days now! I should have planted them last night like I planned.

We woke (no pun intended) up on Saturday morning to a very small, but intense system forming just to our NW and "training" to the SE. Dumped 4.3" of rain on us in a torrent that lasted about 2 hours. Have rarely seen as much water roll through our yards as that. Neighbor joked we'd have to use a canoe to get back and forth--more like a rubber, white water raft! A fellow church member N of us received over 6" of rain and another person we know in Blue Springs got 8".

We bid it "adieu" as the storm headed toward Lake of the Ozarks to spoil their Saturday Labor Day weekend plans.

Spent a large part of Saturday afternoon on Nellie ('47 Cub) with 54 blade in grader position reshaping my driveway. She did a great job!

we got over 2" here last night in a couple hours----messed up everything again---too late to do gardens any good!

The rain arrived here on Monday (Labor Day) about 4 pm. It rained and stormed till the wee hours. Our two rain gages were full to the top so I don't know how much we actually got, but well over 4". It was really wet here yesterday morning! Hoping it will dry off enough that I can mow most of the yard, today.

it was intense when it came over us and was heading straight East! --- Ind., Ohio, etc. looked to be in the path of it! ---- we got more here last night, fog today---- fall is here and our frost date is Sept. 16, and this year it could freeze sooner!

We are getting moderate amounts of rain in the last couple of weeks...a little late for the garden.
Man, we had a tornado tear up the town a couple of weeks ago and we still haven't recovered. I mowed a field last weekend near where the tornado path was and it was eerie driving down the street with trees and tree parts lining the road. It was concentrated on 2 towns so the utility sent everything they had and everyone had power within a few days. We lost power for 2 days and ran off the Tesla power wall and didn't miss a beat.

Have 1.9" in the gauge this morning; raining since before dawn. Steady and constant. Glad I fixed the driveway last Saturday after the gully-washer.
