Great job!!

I have really enjoyed following your posts and am happy to see all worked out fine, including visitation rights! :{_}:

Very Very nice. Tell the new owners to sign up and become members of the Cub Forum. Now they are "family". Can't wait to see what is next for you. Hope it is another IH project so you'll include all of us throughout your restoration process.

WOOT congrats all around! it was a grand adventure watching all of the steps and your meticulous efforts to ensure Rocky was as good as it could be. It was a great educational journey as well :) so...whats next? next years coming, and we need a new thread to watch :)

Folks,

What can I say, words are really inadequate to describe the gracious hospitality showered on Jo and I. We are still overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity extended by Tim and his lovely wife, Tamera. From the bottom of our hearts, Thank You!

Rocky, too, exceeded my wildest expectations, truly an outstanding restoration.

Those Texans know how to do things. They raised over $110,000 (not a typo) in, I thought 10 minutes, Jo said it was 20. It started by the MC asking "Who can give $10,000 tonight? Raise your hands." Three hands went up and it went on from there. Quite an event, is an understatement.

Thanks again, Tim and Tamera.

Hello Farmall Cub family. Instead of starting a new thread, I thought it may be best to add to this old thread in case there is something I may have missed during the restoration process. The gentleman that purchased Rocky at the auction called me recently and said he wanted to donate the tractor back to ROCK. He could not get the tractor to start so he dropped it off at my home about a month ago and asked me if I could help get it running. First thing I did was replace the 5 year old 6V battery which was dead. Tractor started right up and purred like a Kitten. Oil pressure was good and it sounded great. I changed all the fluids and drove the tractor around for about an hour. After sitting for about two weeks, I started it up again today only to notice very low oil pressure. Any ideas as to why the oil pressure is now reading low?

Hi,
Thanks for the pictures.
If the oil gauge is reading at 0 when the engine is running, the oil pressure isn't just low, there is probably no oil circulation. The crankshaft bearings can be damaged soon if the engine is run with no oil circulation or pressure.
The oil pump can lose it's prime when sitting, sometimes it happens after months, or sometimes it happens sooner.
Priming the oil pump isn't hard to do.
Below is a post I made about priming the oil pump, it is part way down the page. :)

Thank you all for the quick responses. I shut the tractor off as soon as I reliazed oil pressure was low. Primed the oil pump and it solved the problem. I am surprised it lost prime in only two weeks. Could it be the 0W-40 synthetic oil that was used? Used this oil because it was on hand but perhaps it has too low a viscosity to keep oil pump primed. I will be draining the oil and switching to 15W-40 Rotella T5 today.

Hi,
The thin oil is probably why the oil pump lost it's prime sitting.
There was a post lately discussing motor oil, and saying Cub engines aren't designed to use the modern thin oils. The clearances in the Cub engines are too big for the thin oils, like the oils with weights beginning with 0.
The 15W40 weight oil is good, people on here use it.
The Cub still looks good in your pictures. :)
